Axiata Announces Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan As Board Member

KUALA LUMPUR – Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata or the Group) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan as an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) with effect from 29 November 2021.

 

Tan Sri Shahril, 51, currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad, where he chairs the Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

 

Previously, he led Khazanah Nasional Berhad as its Managing Director from 20 August 2018 to 19 August 2021, where he successfully revamped the national sovereign fund’s investment strategy in line with the mandate to deliver higher and more sustainable returns.

 

Preceding that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Employees Provident Fund from 16 April 2013 to 18 August 2018, after having served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Investment) for slightly over three years. In addition to delivering an enhanced investment strategy that resulted in new highs in profits and returns, during this stint, he successfully led the digitisation of the retirement savings fund, connecting 16 million members and 800,000 employers. Between 1 September 2003 and November 2009, he was Group Managing Director at Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad.

 

Tan Sri Shahril holds a Master of Arts (First Class) from Cambridge University and Bachelor of Civil Law (First Class) from Oxford University.
