TM International Extends Value to Customers with Cheapest Data Roaming Services across Six Countries in the Region

KUALA LUMPUR, Thursday, February 19, 2009 - TM International Berhad's (TMI), subsidiaries and affiliate, has launched an initiative to enhance customers' data roaming experience by offering an innovative daily unlimited data roaming plan. The service, the first ever for Malaysian consumers, is currently the cheapest in the region offering a daily “capped rate” where travellers can use internet and data browsing service, without worrying about escalating call charges when roaming within TMI's network of mobile operators in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Cambodia.

The service is intended to cater to the increasing demand of internet usage amongst customers who, as of the end of 2008, amounted to nearly 500,000 active roamers across TMI's six OpCos, namely Celcom, XL, Dialog, M1, Aktel and Hello. The initial Daily Unlimited Data Roaming Plan will be offered to postpaid customers. Furthermore, for a promotional period, the service does not require advance daily subscription, customers who use below the cap will only be billed for actual usage, providing the best value proposition for both low-usage and high-usage customers.

Azwan Khan, TMI's Group Chief Strategy Officer commented, “As data roaming gains momentum, TMI is taking the opportunity to extend further value to our users. Research has shown that internet access is a growing priority demanded by consumers and so we are aiming to cater to their needs by offering cost-effective, convenient and unlimited data-roaming services. We recognize that many of our broadband customers travel and need cost-effective connectivity when overseas. However, the high price of using data services whilst roaming has proven cost prohibitive for many customers, who opt to use hotel broadband services as a cheaper alternative. As such, we have carefully designed this offering to be both cheaper and superior in providing full mobility”.

Since the demerger, TMI has been focused on driving superior performance and market growth, leveraging on its global strength to increase competitiveness. With the promotion TMI is expecting a positive increase in data roaming usage.

Dato' Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of TMI said “This proposition is a significant part of our strategy to develop group initiatives that harness synergies across OpCos. In this instance, we have translated the operational savings that we've achieved through our cross-border synergies around the region into value-add for our consumers, offering the most competitive rates in the region. With this new initiative, customers can look forward to even better services from our various OpCos, going a long way towards unlocking the future potential of TMI,”
