Axiata Appoints Prominent Corporate Figure as Director to Fill Board Position


Kuala Lumpur, 24 November 2016 – Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata or the Group) today announced the appointment of Dato’ Mohd Izzaddin Idris, Malaysian (aged 54), as the Group’s newest Non-Independent and Non-Executive Director to its Board effective today. Izzaddin, who is currently the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Group Berhad (UEM), brings with him expertise and proven track record in corporate leadership as well as in strategic and operational portfolios such as corporate finance, accounting, merger and acquisitions and investment banking.

The appointment is part of Axiata’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its Board whilst at the same time ensure international exposure and experiences, at both Management and Board level.

Izzaddin has over 20 years of experience in the fields of investment banking and finance having served in various senior positions at Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Berhad, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad and Southern Bank Berhad. Prior to his current position at UEM, he was the Chief Financial Officer/Senior Vice President (Group Finance) of Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

Currently, Izzaddin sits on the Boards of UEM Group Berhad and several other UEM companies including UEM Sunrise Berhad, UEM Edgenta Berhad, PLUS Malaysia Berhad, PLUS Expressways International Berhad, Project Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad, Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad, Opus Group Berhad, UEM Builders Berhad, PT Lintas Marga Sedaya in Indonesia and Uniquest Infra Ventures Private Limited in India.

In addition to his directorship in commercial entities, Izzaddin is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan UEM and Director of Yayasan Putra Business School.

Izzaddin is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a fellow member of Certified Public Accountants of Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honours in Finance from the University of New South Wales.
