Fundamentally, we recognise that leadership is a practice by nature. Hence, our leadership development programmes address the dimensions of science (learning the process, know-how & facts), craft (acquiring the practical experiences) & art (building the ability to draw insight & form visions).

We too think that personal effectiveness is an important area of development. Hence, learning & development is not abot fitting everyone into the one mould, but is about allowing everyone to be like the best of what they can be.

We recognise that learning & development may come through many methods & forms. Hence, at Axiata, we offer 4 development platforms & activities for our people: -

  • Education-Based Developmentis where we provide classroom trainings or workshops to equip our people with specific skills/ knowledge. The curriculum is designed to blend timeless Asian philosophy with efficient Western methodology, to cultivate the desired “think-act-embrace’ leadership”.
  • Experience-Based Developmentis where we provide on-the-job experiences to our people. Here, we emphasise the sharpening of the “craft” of our people.
  • Relationship-Based Development is where we organise network sessions for our people to meet & learn from internal senior executives and peers from across the region. The network sessions are carefully set up to enable our people to learn & gain insights of key success factors of the business, leadership journey of our leaders and/ or any other business & strategy-related topics.
  • Personal Development aims to challenge our people to take ownership of their own personal development by understanding their personal strengths, limitations, derailments and motivation. Our people are led to reflect & think through not about the business, not about the work, but about themselves and especially what drives them and how they react to different situations.

II. Career Progression

At Axiata, we want to help our people progress in their careers and provide opportunities beyond the home-country operating company. When you join any of our operating companies, the opportunities that are opened up to you are across the Group.

Our talent pipeline operates on a common framework across the Group. It enables our people to envision their career progression in their home-country company as well as with any other operating companies in the Group.

III. Accelerated Development Programmes

We also recognise that there are individuals in the organisation with aspiration & capacity to progress at a faster pace. Our 3 tiered Accelerated Development Programmes (ADP) focuses on different groups of people and their career development & progression.

  • Group Accelerated Development Programme (GADP) aims to provide targeted & stretching developmental opportunities for our senior managers to accelerate their development & readiness for future top leadership roles across the Group.
  • OpCo Accelerated Development Programme (OADP) aims to accelerate the development & readiness of our individual contributors & junior managers for future senior manager roles.
  • And our Young Talent Programme aims to accelerate the development of fresh graduates with high potential at the start of their career.

ADP provides varying development opportunities such as workshops, intensive coursework, participation in special projects/ taskforce, network sessions or a job change with a possibility of relocation. These opportunities require a great deal of commitment and time from our people, but will allow them to learn and grow at an accelerated pace.
